Die Schule wurde 1950 als kleine Privatschule für Körperbehinderte gegründet und hat sich im Laufe der Zeit zu einem gemischten Internat (Mädchen und Jungen) mit etwa 180 Internatsschülern und 100 Tagesschülern entwickelt. Die Finanzierung erfolgt zum Teil aus staatlichen Mitteln, überwiegend durch eine private Stiftung. Die Schule verfügt über eine eigene Werkstatt, in der orthopädische Schuhe, Prothesen, Rollstühle und andere Hilfsmittel hergestellt und angepasst werden.

Sahibu Kenia finanziert die Installation großer Wassertanks zum Sammeln von Regenwasser. Das Wasser wird für die Bewässerung des Schulgartens verwendet. So tragen wir dazu bei, dass die Ernährung der Schüler abwechslungsreicher und gesünder wird.

Started in 1950 Port Reitz School was a small private school for the physically handicapped. Over time the school developed into a mixed (girls and boys) boarding school with about 180 boarders and 100 day school pupils. The school is partly state-funded, but predominantly funded through a private foundation. It has its own workshop in which orthopaedic shoes, prostheses, wheelchairs and other aids are manufactured and fitted.

Sahibu Kenia is financially supporting the installation and replacement of large water tanks to collect rainwater. The water is used for cleaning the school and to irrigate the school garden. in this way we contribute to supporting a more varied and healthy diet for the students.
